November 13 - 16, 2002
Many of us look back on college as a cherished time of life -- a time when we forged lifelong friendships amid an atmosphere of intellectual challenge. Classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences gave us the skills for tackling real world problems. The opportunity to learn from experts in various fields created an excitement and passion to make a difference in the world. This year's National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) conference recreated this collegial atmosphere.
Today Financial Planners and Investment Advisors face an ever-changing marketplace. In order to serve clients and maintain a competitive edge, they must constantly broaden and deepen their knowledge and skills. NAPFA University: Honing Our Skills provided participants:
- cutting-edge perspectives on critical financial topics -- the economy, investments, the media, current legislation and marketing techniques -- from world-class keynote speakers
- break-out sessions addressing more than 40 timely topics along four tracks: Communicating with Clients and Prospects, Practice Management, Investments, and Technical Skills
- advice on how to grow their business and build stronger bonds with their clients
- a chance to meet one-on-one with veteran NAPFA members for mentoring and advice
- an unsurpassed venue for networking with peers and fostering professional growth
In the Technical Skills Track during this convention, Keith Davenport, Associate Director, TIAA-CREF Institute, presented Making Retirement Income Last a Lifetime. During this presentation Mr. Davenport discussed the sustainability of investment portfolio withdrawals. Topics included asset allocation of retirement portfolios, payout solutions and estate planning benefits.
