September 28 - October 1, 2002
This annual Financial Planning Association (FPA) convention and exposition offered more than 60 educational sessions for all levels of experience, a separate "meeting within a meeting" for new planners, remarkable keynote speakers and in-depth pre-convention workshops. During each of Success Forum’s 2002 educational session time slots, attendees were offered programs in seven different educational tracks:
- corporate perspective
- insurance
- estate planning
- investments
- life planning
- marketing
- practice management and special issues
In the Investments Track of this convention, John Ameriks, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow, TIAA-CREF Institute, presented "Maintaining Income While Maximizing Wealth in Retirement." "People spend a lot of time configuring retirement portfolios to hedge market risk when they should be just as concerned about hedging longevity risk," says Ameriks. During this presentation Mr. Ameriks discussed his recent research on the sustainability of investment portfolio withdrawals. Topics included asset allocation of retirement portfolios, payout solutions and estate planning benefits.
