Knowledge On-Demand

The TIAA-CREF Institute Knowledge On-Demand library provides human resources professionals and other administrators at nonprofit organizations with additional knowledge that will help improve their job performance and effectiveness. Knowledge On-Demand content is provided in the form of a web conference, which include slide presentations transmitted via the internet; audio commentary from the instructors (i.e. experts on the particular topic) is also provided. Our web conferences are conducted by us in collaboration with other organizations to foster better understanding, decision making, and innovation by policymakers, researchers, administrators at non-profit research and educational institutions, university lobbyists, financial advisors, and the media.

Web conferences have proven to be a powerful medium for obtaining information in a classroom-like environment without having to leave one's workspace. To participate, all that is needed is a telephone and an internet connection.

Review a recorded version of one of our web conferences; past presentations include the following:

  • "Managing the Faculty of the Future: Phased and Early Retirement Plans" — looks at the advantages/disadvantages of implementing phased retirement programs at colleges and universities.
  • "Recruitment, Retention, and Retirement: The Three R's of Higher Education in the 21st Century" — an overview of key issues of strategic importance with critical implications for the future vitality of higher education
  • "Trends in Longevity and Implications for Retirement Planning" — discusses specific mortality characteristics of annuitants and provides a basic understanding of the factors that employees must consider as they plan for retirement
  • "Making Retirement Income Last a Lifetime" — with consideration of longevity risk, this session explains how payout annuities work and discusses the value they provide as a pension plan distribution option
