    Based on a conference convened by the Institute in April 2004, issues addressed include: the aging of the faculty, changing economic conditions and shifts in faculty employment patterns, rapid increases in health care costs and the trends in retiree health insurance, and adoption of phased and early retirement programs.
  • The New Balancing Act in the Business of Higher Education (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2006)
    What makes balancing business issues with institutional academic missions increasingly challenging are emerging internal and external factors - including changes in federal and state funding levels, rapidly evolving demographics on campus and in the workforce, and higher expectations and changing demands from a wide and diverse group of stakeholders.  This book discusses a variety of strategies and solutions being employed to ensure ongoing vitality in a constrained budgetary environment.
  • Transformational Change in Higher Education: Positioning Colleges and Universities for Future Success (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2007
    This unique book discusses the management of transformational change in higher education as a key element of success. The role of entrepreneurial leaders and their interactions with trustees, policymakers and the public are discussed, as are strategic issues such as financing operations and student access, as related to pricing.
