NEW YORK, NY – November 23. 2009 -  Madeleine d’Ambrosio, Vice President and Executive Director,  TIAA-CREF Institute, represented TIAA-CREF at the premier WISE forum, “Global Education: Working Together for Sustainable Achievements.”  This “invitation only” event brought together 1,000 leading education figures and media from more than 50 countries in the five continents.

Leaders from government, business, civil society, schools and universities, grass-root initiatives, and the media attending the forum in Doha, Qatar, November 16,-18th, 2009, engaged to develop a better understanding of the current and emerging issues affecting global education and shared innovative ways to address them.

“We are pleased that the TIAA-CREF Institute was present for this important undertaking intended to identify new education models and techniques. Our participation is directly aligned with the mission of the TIAA-CREF Institute, which is to build knowledge, support thought leadership, and enhance understanding of strategic issues related to the business of higher education and lifelong financial security,” said Madeleine d’Ambrosio, Vice President and Executive Director of the TIAA-CREF Institute.

“Forum discussions addressed many topics covered by the TIAA-CREF Institute, giving me the opportunity to share relevant information and to demonstrate TIAA-CREF’s legacy of commitment to higher education and our nation’s colleges and universities,” said d’Ambrosio. For example, the soon-to-be-published TIAA-CREF Institute book, Higher Education in a Global Society, presents experiences, best practices and challenges shared by campus leaders seeking to advance institutional goals in a rapidly changing world.  The book, based on a TIAA-CREF Institute Higher Education Leadership Conference and part of the TIAA-CREF Institute Series on Higher Education, is co-edited by Ms. d’Ambrosio, Paul Yakoboski, Principal Research Fellow, TIAA-CREF Institute, and D. Bruce Johnstone, Distinguished Service Professor of Higher and Comparative Education Emeritus and Director of the International Comparative Higher Education Finance and Accessibility Project at the University of Buffalo – SUNY. He is also a TIAA-CREF Institute Fellow. For more information about the Series or the TIAA-CREF Institute, please visit the Institute web site: www.tiaa-crefinstitute.org.
