What is on the website…
This website functions primarily as a repository for the research conducted and/or supported by the Institute. It also serves as a platform for communicating Institute activities, which include conferences, webcasts, awards, and publications. The website now has four main navigation links — RESEARCH LIBRARY, AWARDS, CONFERENCES, FELLOWS — available on every page throughout the site. Here is some basic information about the four sections:

RESEARCH LIBRARY: This section is a good place to access if you are looking for information about a particular Institute initiative, including any of our publications. A click on the Research Library items listed in the left side index of this section will bring up the most recent item posted. A brief description will appear in the middle of the screen and, where appropriate, a PDF button will give you access to a complete document. The index on the right side of the screen provides access to research papers (in reverse chronological order). A
Library Search feature (available at the top of every screen) allows you to search for items within particular publications or sections, or you can search the entire site using key words you type in.

AWARDS: The Institute administers three awards: the TIAA-CREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for outstanding scholarly writing; the TIAA-CREF Theodore M. Hesburgh Award for exceptional programs to enhance undergraduate student learning; and the TIAA-CREF Ruth Simms Hamilton Research Fellowship, awarded to graduate students pursuing research related to the African Diaspora. Clicking on the respective award names can access detailed information, including entry guidelines and past winners, on each of these programs.

CONFERENCES: We convene and sponsor forums to facilitate the ongoing exchange of research and information. Programs are generally focused on the business of higher education. Upon clicking to this section, the right hand index provides a list (with links) to details about particular programs.

FELLOWS: The TIAA-CREF Institute Fellows program includes a distinguished group of individuals who have demonstrated thought leadership on issues important to TIAA-CREF, the institutions we serve and the participants who entrust their financial well being to us. Fellows join the program with the understanding that they may be called upon to partner with the Institute in a number of different capacities. Activities can include serving as a judge for TIAA-CREF sponsored awards, giving presentations, preparing papers examining public or institutional policies, conducting research, and writing articles. This section provides a complete list of Fellows along with biographies and vitas, when available.

E-Notes highlights new postings to the website and offers links to more detailed information should you wish to learn more. E-Notes gives you the option to "unsubscribe" at any time.
